CWUG Holiday Party Raises Money for Friends of Children in Therapy (FOCIT)

At its annual Holiday Party for Charity on January 25, 2005, CWUG raised $1,300 for the Arlington Heights-based charity Friends of Children in Therapy (FOCIT). The party, held at Dave and Busters in Addison, provided a fun venue to gather and share dinner and games with fellow members and simultaneously fulfill the user groups’ mission to give back to the community.

Each CWUG party attendee paid of $20 (or more) directly to FOCIT, which supports services for kids with a wide variety of challenges, such as autism, ADD/ADHD, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, hypotonia, and mental retardation. FOCIT funds specifically approved programs that address educational, financial, social/emotional, or therapeutic needs. Strictly managed and operated by volunteers, all FOCIT funds go directly toward helping children, their families, and the community.

As a local group itself, CWUG feels good about supporting another local organization working to better the community around us. Members who could not attend the party may have missed the antics, deejay, and giveaways (Xboxes, an iPAQ, copious mugs, and a variety of shirts), but they can still contribute to FOCIT and the core of the CWUG mission by sending in a donation on their own.
