Did you miss our Virtual Meeting in December about planning 2006? CWUG held its first virtual meeting using Microsoft's Live Meeting technology on December 15th. It worked like a charm and we've decided to try to incorporate a virtual attendance option for our future in-person meetings--this means you could log in to see the slides/demos and hear the audio in real-time while the meeting is happening. Of course there's no replacement for rubbing elbows with your fellow techies, but this way we can even record the meetings and make them available over the internet for later viewing. Curious how effective it is? Well, we hope to post the recording of our 2006 Planning Meeting, so then you can see for yourself. Meanwhile, the planning meeting addressed how we'll be establishing content "tracks" led by CWUG members with the support of the CWUG Steering Committee. Our intent is for you, the community, to have a more active role in providing content and setting direction. The Steering Committee will hopefully evolve toward a shared service that provides logistical support. We hope to have this foundation built in 1Q2006. We'll be sending out an agenda for the January 19, 2006, meeting in Downers Grove as soon as we finalize it. If you're interested in learning more about the track approach and potentially signing on to help drive one, please drop us a line at info@cwug.net |

We've got pictures from the 2004/2005 CWUG Holiday Party for Charity!
See the slide show. We gathered at Dave & Busters in Addison on January 25 for dinner, drinks, games, pool, hula-hoop matches, and cartoon theme trivia competitions. And in doing so we also helped Friends of Children in Therapy, an Arlington Heights-based non-profit that helps kids with disabilities. See the news piece. Meanwhile, if you were one of the members who registered for the party but couldn't make it at the last minute, Friends of Children in Therapy would still love to have your $20 donation. Please mail your check to: Friends of Children in Therapy (FOCIT) 305 N. Wilke Road, Suite H Arlington Heights, IL 60004 |
