Logging in to the CWUG Portal
Tips for logging in to the portal:
-
You must have an activated account. To get an account: (1) click the registration link on the Home page, (2) complete the registration process until you get a Thank You page, and (3) receive email notification that your account is activated. Then you can come back to the portal and log in.
-
Use the domain when logging in: type the domain with a backslash before your user name (cwug\username). However, if your login dialog has a separate field for the domain, only list the domain once. Either of the ways shown below are ok.
You can type the domain before your user name like this:
Or, if your login dialog provides one, you can type the domain in separate Domain field; but do not list the domain twice :
-
To use the portal your browser must be able to accept cookies and run scripts. These are controlled by the browser's privacy and security settings. Read about
how to check and change these settings .
-
If you are having trouble with login dialogs popping up or error pages: try closing all browser windows and starting the browser application from scratch, go to the Home page and log in immediately, then proceed to explore and use the portal.
-
Remember, your portal password is case sensitive.
-
To assure no "user error," try copying and pasting your password directly from the email notifying you that your account is ready (sounds dumb, but syntax and passwords cover the majority of our login problems).
-
If you have forgotten your username or password, or if you need to change them, contact the
Portal Editor .
-
If you get the login dialog again after you have already successfully logged in and providing your credentials again does not let you complete what you're trying to do, you are probably trying to do something that your permissions do not allow.
Portal members have permission to interact and create content in the Forums area and on their own My Site pages. Editing other parts of the portal requires higher permissions.
If you have suggestions for additional content or corrections, please contact the
Portal Editor .
If you've tried these tips and still have a problem logging in, it's probably an environment issue . For instance, some people report that they cannot access the portal from behind their company firewall but they have no problem accessing the portal from other machines. Try to log in from another machine or system as a test. If your difficulty accessing the portal continues, please contact us about the symptoms and we'll help troubleshoot!
